Capitol HIll Block Party is Happening

The Capitol Hill Block Party is tomorrow and I think we're all pretty excited for the music festival that's about to take place. A few last minute things to discuss before the CHBP 2009.

First off, there are tickets still available. You can get tickets to the Capitol Hill Block Party at www.ticketwest.com, tickewest outlets, Neumos box office, and at Urban Outfitters stores in the Seattle area. If tickets are no longer available at these locations, it doesn't mean they sold out so don't fret! Tickets for the Capitol Hill Block Party are still available.

Also, the weather (and the music) are going to be hot. So dress accordingly (sunscreen) and there will be water soakers at the main stage if you absolutely need it, and also there will be special tents to call off. Stay hydrated and enjoy the music.

Capitol Hill Block Party The Jesus Lizard

The Jesus Lizard is an alternative rock group formed in the late 1980s in Chicago. In 1998 the band broke up, and has reunited now, in 2009 and will be headlining the Capitol Hill Block Party 2009!

A little about The Jesus Lizard: They took they're band name from a type of lizard that is able to run on water. They never hit it too big in the maintream music scene, yet were still very influential to the independent rock scene. Their music is described as scathing and loud, with piercing electric guitar and psychotic vocals. They definitely left their mark in the indie music community and that's why they'll be headlining for Capitol Hill Block Party. They have performed a number of times this year, including at the Pitchfork Music Festival.

After the Capitol Hill Block Party, The Jesus Lizard will be performing both overseas (mostly in Europe) and across the USA with concerts in New York, California, Oregan, Texas and others.

The Jesus Lizard makes amazing music and I'm excited to see their performance at the Capitol Hill Block Party.

Capitol Hill Block Party Layout

The Capitol Hill Block Party will be taking Seattle by storm this July 2009 and it's right around the corner. The lineup is stellar and huge, including legend Sonic Youth, the Gossip and Jesus Lizard.

Because there's so much going on, they're taking measures to prevent this years music festival from overcrowding. From the get go there are going to be less tickets. (So get your now before they sell out and they will!) And there's a new layout for the festival this summer which will make the Capitol Hill Block Party more pleasant and easier to navigate.

No matter what, the lineup speaks for itself and the festival will be simply amazing. I wouldn't miss it and suggest you buy your tickets today. Don't wait till the day of the music, because last year the Capitol Hill Block Party sold out!

Capitol Hill Block Party Weather

Capitol Hill Block Party 2009 is right around the corner! I'm so excited for the bands this year. Capitol Hill Block Party Sonic Youth will be off the hook but with the music festival right around the corner let's talk about weather.

Well so far so good. The weather for the Capitol Hill Block Party is supposed to be great this year! Perfect sunny weather for the weekend. Let's hope this keeps up. Weather is important, but music is more important so who really cares if it rains or shines?!

That's it for now, just a quick update for the CHBP 2009.

No changes for the lineup so far, but the music will no doubt be incredible.

Capitol Hill Block Party Lineup: Sonic Youth and Girls

The Capitol Hill Block Party is going to be off the hook this year. There's a more than phenomenal lineup already (and maybe they'll add some more). For now the festival is set. It's got a great lineup of musicians and artists and it's right around the corner. It's an interesting mix of musicians and I'm going to talk about that today. About the two musicians I'm most excited for. The Capitol hill block party has really made me think.

First we have Sonic Youth. Good old Sonic Youth. My first reaction was "Thank god, I love these guys" and it was followed by a quick "What are they doing playing at Capitol Hill Block Party 2009, the contemporary music festival?!" Well, I have some answers. First lets talk about Sonic Youth to see why they're playing at the festival and why it's so appropriate. The band was formed in 1981 in New York City and they have been going strong ever since. They have sold out stadiums, played in small clubs, played in may a festival (not the first which is Capitol Hill Block Party 2009). Really, it's exciting that they're still considered so contemporary. Thurston Moore has literally changed musical history as it is, and that's why they're playing at CHBP. They're music is still contemporary, and it might not be west coast or independent, but Sonic Youth definitely influenced an entire younger generation of artists. Don't even get me started, but in at least half of the lineup musicians, I could actually point to songs and styles that were influenced by Sonic Youth. This is exciting for me, and is a reason in and of itself to make sure you get a ticket into the CHBP this summer.

An extremely contemporary band that is playing at this years music festival is none other than San Francisco's Girls. They've emerged just in the last year or so and have recently announced their debut full length album. They're sound is sort of a mix of Elvis Costello and Sonic Youth, if that's even possible. The fact that they're so young and have really just emerged out of no where and are playing at Capitol Hill Block Party proves how quick music is moving. One day your nobody, the next day you're performing at one of the biggest summer music festivals in the USA. It's crazy to compare Girls to Sonic Youth because it's so old and new, but new and old at the same time. In Girls' music, which you will hear live this summer, you can hear roots and where they came from. You can hear who they are, what they must have listened to growing up and what they're into. It's such a treat to be able to get a sense of history just by listening to songs, and Girls really does that for me.

These are just two of the bands that are going to make this years Capitol Hill Block Party one to remember. I can hardly wait to get into the gates and listen to the music. This is what summer is about and come back soon for the latest Capitol Hill Block Party news!
